Content Marketing Strategies to Grow Your Yoga Business

Having clear and focused content marketing strategies is one of the most important elements for your online yoga business. It holds the key to long lasting growth.

Content creation is at the center of your marketing ecosystem. It’s the best way to attract potential students to your website and business. Yet for many yogipreneurs, creating consistent content can be a huge pain point.

This is especially true if you don’t have a framework or process to create and repurpose content in an easy way. Without this, content creation can be difficult and time consuming. Often times you may feel that your ideal audience are not taking the time to read your content or even noticing it.

It’s important to understand that it takes time to build a business and that content creation is part that building process. The key is to be consistent and visible. It takes time, testing and validation to understand your audience and what content gets the most engaged results. It’s important to give yourself time to gain traction.

Understand that if you continue to show up and create content, it will start to reach your ideal audience. Be consistent and keep going.

Have a process

You need to have a process in place to make content creation easier. This is something that you learn inside of our programs, especially the the Profitable Yoga Teacher course.

Be Strategic

Secondly, you need to be strategic and have a plan.

How do you create content that encourages and inspires someone to take action? Whether that be to stop their scroll, read, like or comment on your post.

Know your Audience

You need to know your audience. Without this your marketing efforts will not work. Use language and messaging that will speak directly to your ideal audience and cut through the noise.

The more you understand who you are trying to reach, where they are right now in their yoga journey and life, what challenges they are facing and where they want to be…

The easier it will be for you to create content and have your content speak directly to them.

People will only engage with content that’s specifically for them. They won’t engage with content that is too broad or is what every other yoga teacher is saying.

You need to do your research, taking the time to understand who is attracted to you as a teacher and what you have to offer. From here you can establish your voice and share your personality. This is your point of difference that makes you unique and stand out.

Choose messaging and words in your content that are aligned to who you really are. What vibe or energy do you want to share with the world?

80% of people on social media choose to follow brands based on whether their content feels and sounds authentic. What type of feeling and energy do you wish to share? This is what people connect with.

Solve their Problems

The key to creating effective marketing content, is to really know your audience and how you can solve their problems. From here you can create educational content around their pain points.

When creating content, always have your audience in mind. What are your ideal students searching for in google? What do they need help with? What are they struggling with?

They are looking for solutions to their problems. Your role is to offer them solutions to their problems with what you have to offer.

You can create a blog post and share tips on how to solve their problem. Then you can include a free lead magnet that relates to their problem, that they can sign up for. Or you can promote relevant products or services, giving them more tools. For example, you could write a blog post on how to start meditation. Then offer them a bundle of 5-10 guided meditations for beginners.

Educational Content is not just for your website

Content marketing relates to all channels of communication. Such as social media posts, videos, podcasts, articles, interviews and so on. The key is to plan your content and be strategic.

Ask yourself what is more likely to get your audience to engage with your content? Is it a photo you have shared of yourself, a tip or carousel? Try different ways to share your content, then assess whether that technique has been effective and is worth doing again.

Ask Questions

A great way to engage with your audience on social media, is to ask questions. Ask the audience to engage with you. This technique works well in Facebook Groups. You can ask a single question or create a poll. This is very simple and quick to create.

Ask questions to your audience about themselves. For example, when was the last time you got on the mat? What is your favourite type of yoga?

Use questions to engage and encourage your audience to share something about themselves. People love to talk about themselves which can give you incredible insight about your ideal student.

Use Instagram Stories

Instagram Stories are also a great way to get content in front of your audience and engage with them. Be sure to use stickers and gifs to really engage with your audience. Direct your viewers to a landing page or ask them to direct message you. Engage with your ideal audience and show them how they can connect with you.

If they do message you or comment on a post, be sure to reply. Engage back with them and show them that you are a real person who is here to help them. When you don’t respond you are letting them know that “We don’t really care that much about you.”

The biggest key to social media engagement success, is to build long-term, meaningful relationships with your audience. Your audience crave conversation and connection. Genuinely engage in conversations with your audience. Respond quickly and consistently to as many comments as possible.

Get Your Audience to Share

Another type of content that you can use is something that your audience has already posted or created. You can share their post or video that they may have posted. This shows your engaging with them and interested in what they have to say. They will feel seen and validated. This will also encourage more people to share and engage with you, especially in your Facebook Group.

Call to Actions

Content marketing strategies are all about how you encourage your audience to engage with your content across all of your channels. Whether that is via your website, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook etc.

The key is to be direct and have clear call to actions about what you want someone to do. If

you don’t tell them what to do, it’s unlikely that they will take any action at all.

Test this in social media and inside of your email marketing campaigns. Ask your subscribers to reply back, answer a question or take some action. Then watch what happens.

Summary

Remember to understand your audience, make it personal and solve their problem. Learn how you can share content and in what ways. Test different methods and discover the types of platforms and tools that work best for you and your business.

The key is to share your personality and show up on a consistent basis. Be visible. Show that you care and offer solutions to help them with their problems.

Your content is what will help you build relationships. The key is to follow all of the same principles as any other relationship. Be a good listener, authentic, consistent and shake things up once in a while. In exchange, you’ll get a better understanding of your audience, which will help you create better content and offerings.

Remember that relationships take time to build. Don’t be disheartened if your engagement rates don’t immediately jump up overnight. Keep a watchful eye on what is working and not working. Don’t be afraid to repeat was is working.

Most importantly, the online space is a continually evolving landscape, so be ready to adapt your strategy at any time.
