Social media tips for yoga teachers: Promoting your yoga business to the masses has never been easier than right now thanks to the Internet.

Yoga teacher Megan Keith shares her experiences and successes and how to start with social media for yoga teachers 101.

With the right tools, know-how and your own unique voice you’re able to attract multitudes to your yoga business online.

However, the digital age has created a lot of noise online. Our inboxes are filled with junk we’re not interested in. At the same time, we lose important information in busy newsfeeds filled with videos, pictures and captions that distract you from reading meaningful pieces you’re actually looking for.

Authenticity becomes even more important to cut through this noise and attract ideal students to your business.

Knowing how to stand out against the distracting online chatter that fills your ideal student’s newsfeed is essential. You can show them exactly what you stand for and how you could improve their lives.

There are a whole host of different platforms that you can use to send your message out to the world.

It’s important to choose ones that you enjoy using and is going to interact on regularly. And that your ideal students are on.

Choose the platforms that you know your ideal students are using and that light you up and you enjoy using.

When I was setting up my yoga business I used all of these strategies to attract my ideal student.

I use Instagram and Facebook to interact with my community online. This is because my niche is millennials aged 18-35 – who all use these platforms.

Having a blog means I can write on a variety of yoga and lifestyle topics. And then I can promote these articles on both Instagram and Facebook to drive people to my website.

Although Twitter is popular social media amongst this demographic, I decided to discount it as I don’t use it personally. Infrequent tweets would be a waste of time and energy, as they wouldn’t get noticed.

It’s important to create content that’s authentic! Authenticity offers real value as this will attract a loyal following that will enrol in your online course and book your retreats.

Authenticity comes across when you write about the things you’re truly passionate about. It could be yoga anatomy, chakras, self-love, personal development…

Tap into the topics you love and write with passion and you’ll better connect and resonate with your ideal students.

This is about understanding your ideal student and your niche because it’s vital not to fall into the trap of writing for the masses. This can come across bland and boring which won’t stand out on people’s social media feeds and will fade into the background.

Instead focus on the things that inspire you, which in turn will inspire like-minded readers who align with your teachings.

This often feels difficult at first, however it becomes easier with time. Stepping up and shining your true self stands out against a million other carbon copy accounts that people cannot relate to.

A study carried out by Coles College of Business found that “Digital Natives” (those born between 1981 and 2000 who have grown up in the Digital Age) are more likely to interact with online accounts that make them feel they’re part of a community of like-minded people.

Those who actively use social media like to take part in discussions and feel they’re able to share their opinions with others online. One way of allowing people to do this is to ask open questions in your social media captions.

You should regularly comment, like and interact with other accounts to show followers you’re active within the community. Taking time to reply to comments and messages shows your audience that you truly value them and are interested in what they have to say.

By using social media wisely you’re able to create a huge amount of free advertising and content that people can access at any time all around the world.

Creating your own authentic voice and message that others can resound with is hugely important and can have a massive effect on your business.

Guest Writer: Megan Keith A Vinyasa teacher, passionate for teaching others the importance of self-love, self-care and promoting positive mental health for those struggling with conditions like anxiety and depression.
